About the Wine Counselor®
Michael Schafer Esq, a.k.a. The Wine CounselorSM, uses a humorous and fun approach to wine, reflected in his trademark phrase “I taste bad wine so you don’t have to.”® Featured on CNN, ABC and in The Detroit News, the published author judges in international competitions and has taught classes with Madame Charity Suczek at Le Petite Cordon Bleu School of Haute Cuisine. He is a member of La Confrerie des Vigernons de Saint Vincent and has studied wine around the world for over 25 years.
As an instructor at the International Culinary School of the Art Institute of Michigan, Schafer teaches classes in Viticulture & Enology and in Food & Beverage Operations Management. He also serves on the board of DWO (Detroit Wine Organization), a non-profit group dedicated to wine education and children’s charities.
