Join artist Alyssa Smith for a unique two hour workshop geared towards developing the art of seeing everyday beauty around you. You’ll leave with basic sketching and watercoloring skills as well as your first entry in a watercolor journal. Last year she started a collection of small works called “A hundred ways to kiss the ground.” This class is meant to be a continuation of this idea and how we are able to find different ways to appreciate the world around us. She has been keeping a visual journal for years and invites you on the journey of finding a small pocket of time in the day to keep track of your visual memories. The first half hour will be spent learning the basics of drawing and how to get a quick sketch down on paper. The next half hour will be focused on basic watercolor skills. During the second hour of the class, she’ll be sharing a short reading on the art of seeing as well as a meditation to get everyone started on their first watercolor journal entry. Each participant is invited to bring a small token from their home or the outdoors (a flower, piece of fabric, leaf, color, small object…) for this exercise.

Class will be held in our heated Shepherd’s Tent and seating is limited to 10 per class. Food and drink available for purchase before, during and after the event. There are three payment options. All three options include a 3.5x5.5 inch watercolor journal, handouts, drawing materials, additional paper for learning washes, any inspiration I might decide to bring and additional watercolor materials.

Ticket Option 1 $75 - bring your own watercolors and paintbrush

Ticket Option 2 $80- an additional $5 fee for the use of paint and paintbrushes

Ticket Option 3 $95 - an additional $20 fee to purchase a watercolor paint set (a travel size with 12 colors) and paintbrushes
