The Crane Wives are a homegrown indie-folk-rock band from Grand Rapids, Michigan. The evocative, poetic songs of lead-singers / multi-instrumentalists Kate Pillsbury and Emilee Petersmark are brought to life with the help of bassist Ben Zito and percussionist / vocalist Dan Rickabus. Utilizing three-part harmony, warm acoustic instruments, ethereal electric color, bounding rhythms and a deep love of literature, the eclectic four-piece creates a unique, dynamic sound that is equal parts haunting and uplifting. Their music traverses innovative territory, ranging from whisper-quiet ballads to big, danceable grooves. After receiving local critical acclaim for their first two self-produced albums, the band released their third, "Coyote Stories" in August 2015, as well as their fourth album "Foxlore" in April 2016. These two new albums are companion pieces, and were recorded simultaneously in one big session at Ian Gorman's La Luna Recording & Sound in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
