About This Event

Educational Goals

With overdose claiming the top spot on the list of injury related deaths, the CDC calling opioid overdose an epidemic and the prescribing of opioids showing no signs of abatement we are seemingly in troubled water that we are barely able to tread. Interestingly though, opioid addiction has up to a 70% stabilization rate when evidence based approaches are used. In this conference Dr. R> Corey Waller will explore the neurobiology that explains the common behaviors in patients with addition and chronic pain states. He will never be successful in improving healthcare without addressing them. We will then do a deep dive into the practical approaches to embedding evidence based addiction treatment into any practice and by any provider. By the end of this conference you should have a complete grasp on the most important next steps for our patients, their families and the communities in which they live.

Objectives

  1. Attendees will understand the neurobiology that underlies the disease of addition and chronic pain.
  2. Attendees will understand the AMP-C diseases and how they drive complexity in our patients.
  3. Attendees will understand and be abel to apply the evidence based approaches to the treatment of opioid use disorder.
  4. Attendees will understand how mental health and addiction overlap and what that means for treatment system development.
  5. Attendees will understand why interdisciplinary teams are the future of all medical treatment.
