Steve's program will include many blues harmonica pieces in the style of Little Walter, Big Walter and other harmonica heroes as well as a variety of piano pieces ranging from Boogie Woogie to Jazz Stylings. Following the concert, Steve will present a blues harmonica workshop where he will present various harmonica techniques and insights that will help your overall playing.
Steve August started his musical career early in his teens playing electric bass in Rock Bands with high school buddies. He is now an accomplished a blues harmonica player, jazz pianist, composer and arranger and author. He
resides in beautiful Northern Michigan. He has performed in the area
for over twenty years in clubs, resorts and concert venues. He performs
often in a solo as well as a group setting. He has achieved a Master of Music degree in Jazz studies from Western Michigan University on piano.
Steve
is a very active teacher and educator. His studio schedule is full with
many aspiring pianists, musicians and those seeking greater musical
understanding of the inner workings of music making. He is the
instructor for Red Sky Stage's very popular Fun Blues Harmonica class.
