Climb aboard the Red Sky Stage freight train and head south for some first class Northern Michigan Bluegrass. Steel and Wood is a repeat visitor to our stage and long time favorite of our audience.
The band features these well known and accomplished Petoskey area musicians:
John Neiswander
-- John is a student of roots and folk music. He is well acquainted
with the artists, styles, history and back stories of American music.
He sings and plays lead guitar and banjo.
Irene Kazmers -- Irene sings and is
Northern Michigan's premier fiddle player. In addition to playing mean
and tuneful bluegrass, as she does with Steel and Wood, she is more than
comfortable with a vast assortment of Irish, Bavarian and American folk
and blues styles. She also is a standout violin and guitar player.
Bruce Walker -- Bruce plays mandolin with Steel and Wood.
John Hussey --John is Steel and Wood's bass man. He is also a very accomplished banjo player
Steel and Wood plays hard drivin' bluegrass and other friendly frequencies from the Southland of Kentucky, Tennessee and Virginia. Theirs is the sound of the Appalachian Mountains blended with the parallel harmonies that make up the high lonesome sound.
Tickets are available at the door the night of the show for $15, students $8, Kids 12 and under $5
