Ben Cohen, owner of Small House Farm, will share seeds and stories while we discuss how to build a stronger, more sustainable seed community.
Topics will also include seed saving and community seed sharing, how to maintain genetic diversity and preserve regional history as well as regional adaptation, and basic to intermediate seed saving techniques.
There is no fee for this class and donations are requested to support The Botanic Garden at Historic Barns Park.
This class is open to the public and advance registration is recommended.
About our presenter, Ben Cohen:
Ben Cohen is the owner of Small House Farm which is located in the village of Sanford, Michigan. Small House specializes in cold pressed oils and a number of other unique products for the health conscious, Earth friendly consumer.
Over the past few years Ben has helped to establish nearly forty seed library programs across the state of Michigan. He is also a practicing herbalist and hosts workshops throughout the Midwest teaching about the many benefits of locally grown and wild harvested plants.
Ben's writings have been published by Slow Food Cincinnati, The Essential Herbal Magazine and Seed Broadcast Journal. His new book, "From Our Seeds & Their Keepers" is now available!
