NATURAL SILK SCARF DYEING WORKSHOP

Join us for this awesome workshop! We will explore a technique of dyeing that can be simple and fun, called low immersion cold dyeing. Instead of using heat to impart color on fabric we will be using time. It will create a varied surface design on the silk scarf in the process.

Students will receive a pre-treated silk scarf for transforming. Jasmine will guide you along on this guided process, using dye plants that Jasmine has harvested and dried herself, you will go home with a jar full of dye goodness and instructions to complete the rest of the process at home.

Suitable for ages 10 and up.

Instructor Bio:Jasmine is long-time resident of Northern Michigan and enjoys spending time with her family and the land. Professionally weaving and dyeing since 2009, her studio in East Jordan is a place of creation and collaboration under the name Howl at the Loom. She is involved with many local organizations and businesses and is a proud member of the planning committee of the annual Tip of the Mitt Fiber Fair at the Emmet County Fairgrounds.
