It’s the holiday season and that brings about all kinds of feelings. Whether you’re feeling fuzzy or feeling frazzled, May Erlewine has some songs to groove your soul.

This original EP is designed to keep you moving through the holi-craze and in touch with the real sentiments that bring us closer together. May’s songwriting is geared towards those that might not be feeling merry and bright during this tricky season. Recorded at La Luna studios and engineered by Ian Gorman the Little Things has a unique and tasty tone. The songs are supported by an incredible band of Michigan musicians featuring, Phil Barry and Joshua Davis on guitars, Ross Huff on horns, Max Lockwood on bass, Mike Lynch on keys and Michael Shimmin on the drums.

Touring the mitten, May will release the EP with a special series of winter dance parties at wonderful venues across the state. Featuring a full backing band, the concerts will encourage the audience to gussy up, put on their dancing shoes, and come out for a celebration of community and togetherness. The band will be playing original soul inspired songs as well as some of your favorite classics.

The Cathedral Barn is the newly finished event space at the Historic Barns Park located on the old State Hospital Grounds, now the Grand Traverse Commons, in Traverse City. Built in 1885, the thirty-foot ceilings and 3,500 square feet make for a gorgeous entertainment and cultural arts venue that hosts a wide array of social and corporate gatherings, weddings, non-profit events, and musical acts. The multi-function event space is targeted to preserve its historic function as the heart of the local farming and botanical gardens community.

Porterhouse Presents is celebrating nearly 10 years of promoting cultural events in Traverse City and thrilled to help co-create, with The Historic Barns team, a music and arts series for the Barn. “I am very inspired by the Commons and Historic Barns progress,” Sam Porter, founder of Porterhouse Presents, says. “We need more listening venues of this size for music and cultural events and this space is perfect local shows to build a foundation for the future.” Joshua Davis will play a solo show at the Barn on December 9. Stay tuned for more events in this series.

Porterhouse Presents is committed to providing more than a great show—we hope to enrich your senses with a wonderful cultural arts experience, expand the arts market, and support this beautiful venue.

It’s a holy night when we come together
A merry thing, despite the weather
You’re welcome here
Wherever you’re at
Consider the groove
A welcome mat.

Love, May
