Native to Northern California, guitarist Jimmy Grant grew up in a household full of rich musical influences including Russian Folk, Balkan, traditional Hungarian, Bluegrass, Celtic and Classical. However, from a young age he gravitated towards the jazz of Django Reinhardt.
The Jimmy Grant Trio also includes guitarist Kaedin Plummer and Andrew Henley playing the upright bass. The trio performs a blend of music from all over the world and Jimmy's own compositions. Their music is primarily in the style of Django Reinhardt, infusing swing era pieces, Hungarian, Balkan and traditional gypsy tunes with the jazz guitar pioneer’s crunchy rhythms and hot harmonies.
Jimmy teaches private students and has been on the faculty of the Django in June Festival in Massachusetts, and also is the artistic director of the Django Reinhardt Association. Jimmy also writes for Gypsy Jazz Secrets Magazine.
Jimmy has recorded two albums under his own name and performed on several other albums. Jimmy's original song Insomnia was a finalist in the John Lennon songwriting competition (in the jazz category).
Tickets also available at the door at the door at the time of the show for $20.
