You're in for a real treat! Join us on Sunday, April 29th from 1:00pm-3:30pm to enjoy this hands-on workshop with Grocer's Daughter Chocolate.
Adventure into the origins of chocolate and try your hand at making rustic herbal truffles with Jody Hayden of Grocer's Daughter Chocolate as your guide!
This workshop will begin with a brief presentation on the history and botany of the cacao tree plus a tasting of nibs to include 100% coco mass, 81% chocolate, 70% chocolate, milk chocolate and white chocolate.
Participants will then be treated to a hands-on experience in making your own dark chocolate herbal truffles! Herbs like lavender, thyme, rosemary, chamomile, basil and mint - and more! - will be featured. You'll leave with a goodie box filled with your herbal creations!
There is a $40 fee for this class and includes all materials. Proceeds help support The Botanic Garden at Historic Barns Park. This class is open to the public and advance registration is required. The class is limited to 20 participants!
About our presenters, Jody and D.C. Hayden:
Jody and D.C. Hayden own Grocer's Daughter Chocolate, a small craft chocolate confections business in Empire, MI. They are committed to sourcing ethically created chocolate for their shop's recipes plus loads of local ingredients like herbs, flowers, cream, honey, fruits, spirits, beer, teas, coffee and nut and seed butters.
Jody has worked in specialty chocolate and coffee her entire career, focusing on sourcing ingredients that provide dignified livelihood to farmers. She has led dozens of trips to visit coffee and cacao farms in Latin America and Africa.
D.C. is a professional videographer and trained chocolatier. He combines his passions to create beautiful chocolates along with gorgeous photography and videos to educate people about the origins of great chocolate.
