Join us on Wednesday, July 11th, from 7:00pm-9:00pm for an evening of learning how to grow beautiful roses in Northern Michigan — organically! — with Master Gardener and Botanic Garden Board Chair, Karen Schmidt.

Discovering which roses withstand northern winters takes growing roses from frustrating to rewarding. Karen Schmidt will identify hardy growers to select, as well as share tips on caring for and maintaining these beautiful blooms.

The class will focus on the best choices and sources for growing roses in our unique climate. You’ll learn the best techniques to plant, prune and winterize your roses, as well as tips for feeding and fertilizing — all without the use of chemical pesticides, insecticides, and fungicides.

There is no fee for this class and donations are requested to support The Botanic Garden.

About our presenter, Karen Schmidt:

Karen Schmidt is chairman of the Botanic Garden Board, and in her spare time, she loves to grow roses organically in her own garden. She is an American Rose Society Consulting Rosarian, a Master Gardener and a life member of the Cherry Capital Rose Society.
