About This Event
Some of the most prolific songwriters of our era on the same stage swapping stories and songs for a night of incredible music. This is THE CONCERT of the summer.
Sav Madigan
Sav Madigan is not just one-third of the all-female, indie folk roots band, The Accidentals - she's an award-winning singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, side artist Utility Player for Lainey Wilson, recording engineer, and session player, hailing from Nashville TN by way of Traverse City MI.
Sav was born in Nashville and practically grew up on a tour bus surrounded by musicians. Her dad played piano, guitar, and saxophone - and was the band leader for country artists, Terri Clark, Doug Stone, and Grand Ole Opry legend, Whispering Bill Anderson, who announced Sav's birth from the Opry stage. The rest is history.
If it has strings, she learned to play it - violin, viola, mandolin, banjo, bass, guitar, and recently she added pedal steel to the menagerie. Her dad taught her how to chart songs via the Nashville number system when she was barely a teenager, and her ear for harmonies and arrangements helped her score her first studio session when she was twelve.
Sav says her first love is “supporting other artists on the road and in the studio.” She’s toured as a utility player with the likes of Lainey Wilson, Martin Sexton, Keller Williams, Beth Nielsen Chapman, Kim Richey, Peter Mulvey, and more.
When Sav isn’t on tour, writing and recording keep her grounded. In 2022 and 2023, Sav won several songwriting contests, including First Place in the Folk Category and Overall Grand Prize for the 27th USA Songwriting Competition, Kerrville NewFolk Songwriting Contest, Songwriter Serenade, was the Judge's Choice Winner of the New England Songwriting Competition, and was a finalist in the Folk Acoustic category of the 39th and the 40th Mid-Atlantic Song Contest (MASC).
Her song, Cityview, and co-write, Night Train (Dar Williams and Katie Larson), were both semi-finalists in the International Songwriting Competition, and her song The Line was a semi-finalist in American Songwriter and Finalist in the 40th Mid-Atlantic Song Search.
Wildfire, co-written with Kim Richey, was the #1 song of the year at Folk Radio in 2021, and her album TIME OUT was the #1 album at Folk Radio in 2023.
Sav is a certified audio engineer, string arranger, and session player - owner of Crooked Moon Studios in Nashville TN. She’s added vocals and instrumentation to dozens of songs on other artists' albums, including K-pop phenom BTS and Eurovision contestants Mia Nicolai and Dion Cooper on their song Burning Daylight. Her arrangements have sync placements in films like One Simple Question, in advertisements for Turner Classic Movies, and in TV shows such as Amazon Prime's The Boys and Netflix's Bloodline. Sav describes herself as a “problem-solver, lock picker, trailer packer-and-backer, book nerd, birdwatcher, and cat parent in her spare time”.
“I’ve been hardcore touring since my junior year in high school. It began when I was sixteen, and I'm twenty-eight now. Twelve years of touring 200+ shows a year puts some ink on one's soul. At this point the road feels like home. I’ve been on the opposite schedule of everyone I love for as long as I can remember, an observer of life and the people that inhabit it, a witness to the human condition in its most vulnerable form.
There is no way to be complacent in the ever-changing dynamic of movement, crisis, and joy in equal measure. I’ve grown to love change and set my focus on self-love, gratitude, being present, resilience, and success. That’s what I bring to any project I am invited to join. I consider it a privilege to be there.” -Sav Madigan
May Erlewine
One of the Midwest’s most prolific and passionate songwriters, Erlewine has a gift for writing songs of substance that feel both fresh and soulfully familiar. Her ability to emotionally engage with an audience has earned her a dedicated following far beyond her Michigan roots. She shows us her heartbreak, but she also shows us her empowered and emboldened spirit. In her quest to find her most authentic self, Erlewine gifts each listener with a powerful, emotional experience that immediately connects us.
Raised in a home full of art and music, Erlewine began writing songs at a very young age. As a teenager she hitchhiked across the country, honing her skills as a performer and absorbing the kind of stories and landscapes that would inform her music. Her songs show a very real connection and concern with everyday folk.
Erlewine draws from a wide variety of influences to create her sound. Lyrically, her songs are rooted in hard-wrought wisdom, joy and sorrow, simplicity, and stories from her own experiences. Musically, May's songs wash over the audience like a tender hug. She is a magnetic solo performer and is also often supported by her carefully chosen backing bands.
Erlewine uses her music as a platform for positive change. She considers her job a service-oriented one and carries the torch of the folk-singer activist. Her voice on stage encourages connectedness and stresses the importance of environmental advocacy, social justice, creative empowerment and community building as necessary work for all of us.
Erlewine’s music has touched people all over the world. Her words have held solace for weary hearts, offered a light in the darkness, and held space for the pain and joy of being alive in these times. She is a true artist, an anthem, and another example of why we need to listen to women. We need to hear these stories. When she starts to sing, there’s no way around it: The time is now.
Joy Clark
Joy Clark is a singer-songwriter and guitarist who creates soulful original compositions that celebrate peace and the undeniable power of love. Her intricate rhythms and warm melodies reveal a sweet vulnerability, enchanting audiences around the world. Growing up the daughter of a minister, she learned to create an atmosphere ripe for an emotional experience. So it’s no wonder she believes music is her ministry and intimacy is her superpower.
Joy is currently criss-crossing the country alternating between intimate solo dates and soul-stirring jubilees with Grammy nominee and Juno Award winner Allison Russell as a part of her band,The Rainbow Coalition. She’s shared the stage with living-legends including The Indigo Girls, Brandi Carlile, and Cyril Neville. Carlile called Joy, “a supremely talented musician and artist … [who] spreads nothing but joy everywhere she goes.”
Joy’s debut album, to be released on Righteous Babe Records, will be available in 2024. The album’s first single, “Guest,” was released on October 5, 2023.
I love boots, guitars, mangoes, horses, jasmine blossoms, road trips, cloud watching, donuts and my family. I believe in the power of inner peace. I understand the glory of a righteous twist out. I make time to marvel at the mysteries of the world around me. I pour my fears and anxiety into vectors for healing. Pedicures make me giggle but music is my gateway to happiness.
