Drive South brings together two seasoned musicians known most recently as the core of country band Sister Wilene. Vocal duets, featuring tight harmony singing, are the perfect match for Brown’s original American roots music. Drive South...You won't regret it!

What do Freddy Fender, Ringo Starr, Gerry Rafferty and Drive South have in common? Roger Brown - a visionary songwriter whose versatility lends itself to this duo's creative take on Americana music. Mary Sue Wilkinson is a perfect complement to Roger, with a voice as pure as a Michigan stream and as warm as a southern night. These are two seasoned musicians known most recently as the core of country band The Wilenes (formerly Sister Wilene). Vocal duets featuring tight harmony singing are the perfect match for Brown’s accomplished finger style guitar work and Mary Sue's rock solid rhythm guitar playing. And as one recent presenter said "You two are fun!"

“Drive South has the “drive” of a full band. Roger and Mary Sue deliver a classic sound for today’s world. You would do well to have these two at your next show!”
Tom Ball, Wheatland Music Organization

“Something very special happens when Roger and Mary Sue sing together. When you add great songwriting and finger style guitar playing to great vocals you’ve got Drive South.”
David Holt, Four time Grammy Winner, TV and Radio Host, Doc Watson's Music Partner

He was a founding member of the band Stealers Wheel. He also wrote the music and lyrics for Ringo Starr’s children’s release “Scouse the Mouse.” Roger has toured extensively around the world and has appeared at numerous international music festivals. His original material spans the roots of American music from folk to country to blues and his finger style guitar work is unrivaled.Mary Sue WilkinsonMary Sue Wilkinson
Mary Sue grew up in Iowa in a family that loved to sing and to dance. Her dad recalls going to 28 dances in 30 days back when the swing bands were touring the rural routes. Her mother, whose voice was a perfect match for Mary Sue’s, gave her the most precious gift of song and taught her to sing harmony in the church choir. Mom saved green stamps to buy Mary Sue a little black Kay guitar when she was 12 years old. Since that time she has become one of the leading “pure” singers in the traditional music scene. Mary Sue is best known for her past work in the band Iowa Rose, a roots band well known throughout Michigan and beyond. She is the founder of Young at Heart Music, a company devoted to bringing music experiences to seniors and to young children.
