About This Event

A new generation of activist grandmothers across the world is marshaling their strength, wisdom, and hearts to make a difference, whether it’s fighting for the environment, human rights, education, health, or preserving their culture.

Author and photojournalist Paola Gianturco captures their stories in her book Grandmother Power: A Global Phenomenon. She is the guest star for an exhibition, inspired by the book, and stage event co-hosted by the National Writers Series and the Dennos Museum Center. Ms. Gianturco will share her experiences and tell the stories of activist grandmothers in fifteen countries on five continents whose amazing and unique tales inspire and demonstrate the power of grandmothers worldwide.

There will be a free reception (no ticket required) for Museum Members, NWS Friends and NWS ticket holders starting at 6 PM in the Dennos Museum Center to view the exhibition.

The Milliken Auditorium stage event starts at 7 pm, followed by a book signing.

Student tickets are available for $5.00 over the phone at 231.995.1753, or in person at the Dennos Museum Center only.
