Event Details

Learn how to weave on a rigid heddle loom in this full day workshop, including how to set up your loom and how to make a plain weave fabric. Along the way, you will gain understanding of weaving vocabulary and how to follow basic instructions in popular magazines.

Supplies needed:

1. Rigid heddle loom with an 8 dent reed/heddle (please ask about possibility of renting)
2. All the warping tools that came with loom (warping peg, dowels, heddle hook, etc.)
3. 200 yards each of two colors of worsted weight wool. (100% Wool)

4. Scissors (Some will be provided, but feel free to bring your own.)

Lunch will be on your own. You are welcome to bring food that can be refrigerated on site, visit nearby restaurants, or order for delivery.

Nancy McRay has been teaching and producing a wide variety of fiber arts since the mid-1980’s. With an MFA from the University of Michigan, plus years of experience as the Fine Arts Coordinator for East Lansing and 10 years as a yarn shop owner, Nancy has knowledge to share, and she loves to share it. Current favorite subjects to teach include Rigid Heddle weaving and tapestry Weaving. But please ask about floor loom weaving, coil basketry and knitting as well!
