The 2024 Alluvion Jazz Series keeps on rolling with the mighty Jim Alfredson, who Downbeat notes as "A remarkable organist who seamlessly synthesizes several generations of keyboard influences." Jim will be coming with his current all-star band: The Family Business.

Organ: Jim Alfredson comes from a musical family. His father earned a living as a professional musician for many years and encouraged Jim’s talents from a very young age. Some of Jim’s earliest memories include pulling on the drawbars of his father’s Hammond B3 at the age of four. Jim began writing his own songs at the age of eight on a Yamaha organ. A score of synthesizers and multitrack machines followed until he came full circle at sixteen and began lusting after the sound of the Hammond organ once again. Jim has immersed himself in the study of the mighty Hammond B3 ever since, dedicated to uncovering new directions within the deep tradition of the instrument.

Guitar: Will Bernard (Brooklyn, NY) “…one of the most potent, if under recognized, guitarists on the post-Frisell/post-Scofield scene.” –Jazz Times “Will Bernard is one of the best-kept jazz-guitar secrets on the planet.” –Billboard

Saxophone: Diego Rivera A world-class musician, composer, arranger and educator, Diego Rivera has entertained audiences for over 20 years. Rivera is known for his muscular tone and unique blend of straight-ahead jazz fused with music inspired by his Latino background and heritage. He is a tenured Associate Professor of Jazz Saxophone at Michigan State University where he also serves as Associate Director of Jazz Studies.

Trumpet: Anthony Stanco is a trumpeter, composer, bandleader, and educator from Southeast Michigan. A product of Detroit's rich musical heritage, Stanco spent his early years studying under local heroes such as Marcus Belgrave and Rodney Whitaker. He enrolled in the Manhattan School of Music to continue his education with world-famous brass pedagogue Laurie Frink and transferred to Michigan State University to finish his undergraduate and master's degree. While completing his education, he won the International Trumpet Guild's 2013 Jazz Improvisation Competition.

Drums: Alex White If you witness drummer Alex White perform with a trio or a quartet, you immediately recognize his skills are top-notch. He keeps time with the precision of a diamond-encrusted timepiece, cranking out ass-kicking solos when the spotlight calls. There’s a supple mellowness to his drumming that’s taken him years to cultivate, reminiscent of the tasteful late Detroit jazz drummers Bert Myrick and John Cleaver Jr.

Trombone: Michael Dease is one of the world's eminent trombonists, lending his versatile sound and signature improvisations to over 200 recordings and groups as diverse as Grammy winning artists David Sanborn, Christian McBride, Michel Camilo, and Alicia Keys. Born in Augusta, GA, he played the saxophone and trumpet before choosing the trombone at age 17. In 2001, Dease moved to New York City to become part of the historic first class of jazz students at The Juilliard School, earning both Bachelors and Masters degrees, and quickly established a reputation as a brilliant soloist, sideperson, and bandleader.
