About This Event
The Alluvion is proud to bring international artists to our stage. This will be an unbelievable night of music. An experience very unique, intimate, and special for our community of music lovers and arts supporters.
Alex Cuba is "staying true to his Spanish language Folk-Funk-Rock hybrid, and it has paid off.” Born in Artemisa, Cuba, his musical evolution for years was all about searching for the simplicity and soul in Cuban music – taking apart the complex arrangements, mixing it with North American influences, adopting the melodic simplicity of pop music, looking to Cuban folk traditions for inspiration – he’s always exploring, always creating something fresh and new, and always, it seems, getting it just right.
His sugarcane-sweet melodies, pop-soul hooks and powerful guitar riffs, relinquish a conventional stereotype that exemplifies much of the Latin music landscape.
Alex will be performing solo. A performance style he is well known for, and is currently touring. Singing, telling stories, and showcasing his skills on guitar and bass.
Miriam Picó will open the evening in duo form alongside her partner and brilliant guitarist Ryan Younce. With her talent, spark smile, and all she shares with her community, it is easy to see why audiences all over the country rave about Miriam's unmatched vocal versatility and her long-admired songwriting. Well known in Northern Michigan and at The Alluvion where she hosts her outstanding "Mindful & Musical" family classes for kids, Miriam will perform an inspiring opening set of her original music and other favorites.
This will be a fully seated listening room style show.
