Bring the entire family to experience the acclaimed musical comedy You're a Good a Good Man, Charlie Brown. Meet Charlie Brown and the entire Peanuts gang as they explore life's great questions and celebrate the joy of being together. This production is a great way to help our littlest audience members cope with big feelings and develop resilience in an increasingly challenging world; where innocence and experience and loneliness are not solely the province of unusually precocious and privileged children living in a green suburbia, but also part of the story of children across our country.

CHARLES SCHULZ AND THE WORLD OF PEANUTS -- THEN AND NOW

Special Opening Night Presentation

Local arts supporter and Traverse City’s Mayor Pro-tem Amy Shamroe will join director Jesse Jou after the  Opening Night performance of You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown in a conversation of Jou’s vision, and the themes and universe of famed children’s storyteller Charles Schulz.

Originally from Houston, director Jou spent several years as a freelance theater director based in New York City before joining the faculty of Texas Tech University, where he currently serves. He was the Artistic Director of the 2010 Yale Summer Cabaret and served as the Staff Repertory Director of The Acting Company. He is an alumnus of the Cherry Lane Mentor Project, and the Drama League’s Directors Project. Jou received his MFA in directing from the Yale School of Drama.

Moderator Shamroe is the director of five international book awards, including the Moonbeam Children's Book Awards, and the director of the Traverse City Children's Book Festival. She is also a member of the Read to Me collaborative and Friends of the Traverse Area District Library Board.

Our Seating Plan

This summer’s new seating allows our audience to sit in the open air of the lawn at our P45 Amphitheatre. Our Premium Front Row Seating option will get you a provided and comfortable seat in the front row. All other tickets are General Lawn Seating where you can sit with your friends and family in a predetermined row and safely socially-distanced from others. Patrons will need to bring their own seating and stadium chairs, lawn chairs and blankets are suggested. To make sure everyone has a positive and clear viewing experience, please do not bring any oversized or tall-back chairs or umbrellas. Seating on the lawn will be handled on a first come, first served basis, and will take into account sightlines and comfort level of audience members. Shaded areas will be designated for those in need. Contact us at [email protected] with any additional questions.
