Join us at Higher Art Gallery for a socially distanced Art Opening and Community Fundraiser in welcoming the group exhibit: "Citizens Coping".

Throughout time, Artists have been the visual recorders of history making events. Through sculpture, paintings and photography they bear witness and leave the often emotional , raw and honest artwork behind for us to ponder the effects for centuries to come. This show, "Citizens Coping- Artists respond to 4 years of an administration", is no different. We have assembled 32 artists , many of which are lifelong social justice activists.

Each artist has been asked to communicate how they have been affected by the policies and behaviour of the current administration . An array of mediums will be on exhibit including: paintings, photography, sculpture, collage and protest art. There will be no images of our current president. Artists were asked to dig deeper and not use "meme's " or caricatures, as we are already constantly bombarded with that imagery. This is a show you will not want to miss...

HOW YOU CAN ATTEND THE SOCIALLY DISTANCED ART OPENING, AND HOW YOUR ATTENDANCE WILL HELP MAKE A DIFFERENCE:

In order to create a safer environment, and begin welcoming Art Lovers back into the space, we will be offering slotted times which will each have a limited number of tickets available. 12 tickets per one hour time slot to be exact. The tickets will be available for $12 a piece and the best part is that each $12 ticket fee goes 100% towards one of 3 local non-profit organizations of YOUR CHOOSING. We encourage you to get a group of friends or family together to come as a large group if possible.

The 3 organizations for each ticket buyer to choose from are:

Women's Resource Center

Father Fred Food Pantry

FLOW (For love of water)

Furthermore: Everyone who attends the opening night, will receive a raffle ticket upon entering, and one person from each hour will go home with an "artful door prize"

This is in lieu of wine and cheese, which we are unable to serve at this time due to trying to maintain mask wearing and social distancing measures. MASKS WILL BE MANDATORY :)

As mentioned above, a portion of all sales will go directly to one of the 3 organizations of the art buyers choosing .

In addition, one of our participating artists has generously offered that if her piece sells, she would like to gift the earnings to The Women's Resource Center. (If you are interested in learning more about this piece ahead of time, please contact us).

PLEASE ONLY PURCHASE A TICKET IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO ATTEND. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO MAKE A DONATION BUT CAN NOT ATTEND, THEIR IS A DONATION BUTTON INSTEAD.

We look forward to seeing many of your masked faces for a slightly altered and new way of experiencing and supporting Art during this time...

if you have any questions about this event please do not hesitate to give us a call or email .
