K. Jones & the Benzie Playboys bring their unique musical style to Traverse City on Friday, 11/3 in a benefit concert for Family Partnership of Grand Traverse. The performance begins at 7pm at Central United Methodist Church, 222 Cass St., Traverse City. Tickets are $15/adults & $7/children under 12. All proceeds support Family Partnership's mentoring programs & related poverty reduction work.

K. Jones & The Benzie Playboys music genre is Cajun/Zydeco, genuine family, boot-scootin entertainment that ‘gets you on your feet mentally and physically.’ These six northern Michigan musicians have recorded four CDs, and travel nationally to teach the Zydeco rhythms, songs and instruments associated with the genre including squeeze box, fiddle, washboard & spoons.

Family Partnership helps families and individuals in the Grand Traverse are who are struggling with low-resources and seek the additional support of a mentoring relationship. Mentors work with partners to manage their daily struggles giving support, encouragement, advice, knowledge, a listening ear, goal setting, and role modeling for success.

Programs also include Veteran- to-Veteran mentoring which pairs vets from the same branch of service to meet the needs of returning vets who are adjusting to civilian life. Those who speak military lingo refer to it as 'One Last Mission.'

Pathways to Adulthood, a new Family Partnership program, provides mentoring to 18-26 year olds who are aging out of foster care in cooperation with Michigan Youth Opportunity Initiative (MYOI).
