Box office (at the Sara Hardy parking lot entrance off of Union Street) will open at 1PM if you are interested in purchasing your tickets before doors open.  An urban winter wonderland will greet craft brew, music and culinary lovers at the Fifth Annual Traverse City Winter Microbrew & Music Festival scheduled for Saturday, February 8, 2014, in downtown Traverse City.

This year, the popular regional festival will be hosted in the heart of Downtown Traverse City in the Farmers Market lots on Union Street and Grandview Parkway. Join us on the banks of the scenic Boardman River for the event of the season. The event will feature 30-40 craft breweries – and their brewers – from Michigan with a handful of carefully selected national brands, 150+ flavors of brews, wines, ciders and meads, live musical acts, marching bands, a silent disco, and local food vendors. Festivities are scheduled to take place from 4-10 p.m.

The festival will offer free shuttle service to attendees between the Old Town Parking Deck, participating hotel partners and the event grounds.

100% of alcohol sales from the event will benefit Bay Area Recycling for Charities’ Xero Waste Events, a local non-profit organization providing comprehensive recycling services to the region and contributing an annual portion of its revenues to local charities and summer festivals. At the 2013 Summer Microbrew & Music Festival, $20,000 was raised for local non-profit CherryT Ball which directly supported local food banks and Traverse Bay Children’s Advocacy Center.

Sam Porter, founder of the Microbrew & Music Festival, anticipates the Festival will provide a burst of energy to the downtown region. “We’ve welcomed over 50,000 ticket buyers to nine Microbrew and Music festivals over the past five years to experience the craft brew culture and great music of our community. Our goal is to have another sold-out festival and help drive thousands of residents and visitors into downtown merchants, bars and restaurants during an otherwise slow week in February,” he says.

Porter adds that after-parties at downtown establishments will further connect festival attendees with the downtown district.

Early Bird Tickets include early admission (3-4 p.m.), one-on-one time with brewers, a chance to taste rare brews, a custom 7oz. tasting glass, $10 worth of drink tokens, a sticker, shuttle service, music, and other festival amenities. Additional drink tokens will be available for purchase on-site for $2 each.

Attendees are strongly encouraged to purchase tickets in advance, as the festival has sold out in past years. Ticket buyers must be at least 21 years old.
