The first annual YetiFest will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2013, no matter what the weather brings. The Yeti, as it is called in the Himalayan regions of Nepal and Tibet, is commonly known as “The Abominable Snowman,” “Sasquatch,” or “Bigfoot” here in the United States and Canada, where stories of the legendary creature’s appearance first began popping up in the 19th century.
The Suttons Bay YetiFest 2013 will feature a Bicycle Hill Climb contest which organizers say will be held regardless of weather conditions. The festival will include many family-friendly activities that will be offered in and around the village, running concurrently with the bike challenge.
Plans are being made to include a chili cook-off, a microbrew tent, live music, an Abominable Snowman building contest, and a Yeti look-alike (best beard) contest.
