Located in the former Traverse City Cigar Box Factory (circa 1920), THE BOX on Boardman will be a year-round, multi-functional event space incorporating professional cooking and catering equipment, elevated stage, professional sound system, and an outdoor patio, courtyard, and garden. It is the ideal facility to host small weddings, dining events, house concerts, casual receptions, parties, book signings, author interviews, poetry readings, meditations, political fundraisers, afterglows, cooking classes/ schools, wine tastings, and other intimate gatherings. Bringing new life to an old space!
Built in 1920 to manufacture cedar cigar boxes, the 12,000 square foot concrete building is currently a residence, and home to ForeWord Reviews,
an internationally recognized book review journal for librarians and
booksellers. The Box’s historic location, just a few feet from the
Boardman River and the Governmental Center (offering abundant parking),
is a five minute walk to downtown Traverse City.
Beginning July 2013, the addition of the formal garden at The Box
will offer additional incentive to plan your special events, with
extensive patios, walkways and a centerpiece fountain.
