Help the Harbor Springs Area Historical Society launch the summer season at the Second Annual Blessing of the Fleet. Join us for this boat parade and have your boat or watercraft blessed for a safe and fun boating season. From powerboats to sailboats, canoes to kayaks and shoreside spectators, this tradition is for you! The event is open to the public, and boaters wishing to participate are encouraged to register.

Celebrate traditions old and new with the Second Annual Blessing of the Fleet and Summer White Party in Harbor Springs on Wednesday, June 25, 2014.
Presented by the Harbor Springs Area Historical Society, these two
events highlight our community’s waterfront and resort heritage.
Launching the summer season is the Blessing of the Fleet, beginning at 6:00 pm
on the harbor. Join us for this boat parade and have your boat or
watercraft blessed for a safe and fun boating season. From powerboats to
sailboats, canoes to kayaks and shoreside spectators, this tradition is
for you! Father Joe Graff of Holy Childhood of Jesus Parish will
officiate. Participants are encouraged to decorate their vessels.
The Blessing is free and open to the public and registration is required
with a suggested donation to the Historical Society. Registration forms
are available on the Historical Society website,
HarborSpringsHistory.org, and at various locations around Harbor
Springs. Once registered, participants will be given additional
information about the water parade route, staging areas and appropriate
Following the Blessing of the Fleet, the Historical Society invites you
to attend the Summer White Party at the Boathouse of Harbor Springs, 105
W. Bay Street. Beginning at 7:00 pm,
you will step into an elegant summer party of yesterday featuring local
food, beers and wines. Enjoy a strolling supper prepared by Julienne
Tomatoes and complemented with local wines by Harbor Springs Vineyards
and Winery and local beers by Petoskey Brewing. Entertainment will
include live music with the John Driscoll Trio. Don your best white
outfit and celebrate the start of the finest season in northern
Michigan. The Summer White Party is open to the public and tickets may
be purchased for $75 in advance or $100 the week of the event.
The Historical Society’s mission is to connect learning about the past
with appreciating the present by preserving our histories and traditions
thereby deepening our shared connection to this special place. These
two events strongly connect the past with the present and offer an ideal
way for the community at large to celebrate the history and
unparalleled beauty of Harbor Springs.
