The Motor City Horns features some of Detroit’s most versatile musicians who have individually worked with a variety of artists, bands and orchestras, including Justin Timberlake, The Temptations, The Four Tops, The Detroit Symphony Orchestra, and Yo-Yo Ma.  As a group, they have joined forces with Bob Seger and The Silver Bullet Band with Clarence Clemons and The Temple of Soul.  In Detroit, they have appeared with The Brothers Groove, bluesman Johnnie Bassett and The Blues Insurgents, Thornetta Davis, Root Doctor, Karen Newman, and with Alexander Zonjic, sharing the stage and crafting horn arrangements for many well-known jazz artists, including Bob James, Kenny G, and Jeff Lorber.

The Brothers Groove are famous for their frenzy-inducing live gigs and an instrumental interplay that borders on the telepathic.  Formed in 1999 by vocalist/keyboard player Chris Codish and Bassist James Simonson, The Brothers Groove have expanded from a jazz trio to a full force powerhouse quartet.  BG are a soul food stew of Detroit funk, hipster jazz, and stoner rock, seasoned by the ups and downs of living in one of the most fertile music cities in the world.  The band is the only rock band featured at the Ford Detroit International Jazz Festival.  Nobody else sounds like The Brothers Groove…you’ve got to hear them!

For over fifteen years multi-talented, native Detroiter, Thornetta Davis (Singer/Songwriter/Recording Artist/Actor), has graced and dominated Michigan’s most attended events.  She has opended for legendary blues and R&B greats such as Ray Charles, Gladys Knight, Smokey Robinson, Etta James, Buddy Guy, Koko Taylor, Junior Wells, Lonnie Brooks, Johnnie Johnson and many more…her history is extensive and her performances are memorable.
