Gates will open at 5:00 pm - Lyle Lovett and His Large Band will perform at 7:30 pm

Tent Venue is excited to announce “An Evening with Lyle Lovett and his Large Band” as their next Grammy Award winning musical talent coming to Northern Michigan to play in concert at the world renowned Flintfields Horse Park on August 8, 2014.

A singer, composer and actor, Lyle Lovett has broadened the definition of American music in a career that spans 14 albums. Coupled with his gift for storytelling, the Texas-based musician fuses elements of country, swing, jazz, folk, gospel and blues in a convention-defying manner that breaks down barriers. Lovett has appeared in 13 feature films, on stage and in television. Among his many accolades besides the four Grammy Awards, he was given the Americana Music Association’s inaugural Trailblazer Award, and was recently named the Texas State Musician.

Opening for Lyle is Michigan talent - May Erlewine.  Born into a family of musicians, May Erlewine has been playing music all her life. She learned to sing and play piano at an early age, and her acoustic guitar is seldom far from her side. Erlewine, who was home schooled, paid her singer-songwriter dues in her late teens with several years of hitchhiking back and forth across the U.S., even riding freight trains, and always writing songs and playing her music.  Now with four CD’s to her name, May works a variety of venues coast to coast, focusing on the Midwest and her home state of Michigan. Her inspired songs and powerful clear voice have a sweetness that delights audiences.

Gates will open at 5PM for an enticing menu of local food based on a 50’s grilling theme with a twist using locally sourced burgers, brats and dogs along with craft beer, wine and a selection of non-alcoholic offerings. The concert begins at 7:30 with the entire evening by Lyle and his Large Band. Guests are sure to have a memorable experience listening to one of music’s most vibrant and iconic performers.

Guests will be able to park on the grounds of Flintfields and be transported to the venue on top of the highest point in Grand Traverse County by carriage, hayride or golf car.  Handicapped parking and transport will be available throughout the evening.

Please join us for one of the summer's "Hot Dates".
